Jada Thorpe is an American basketball player for Delaware Blue Hens in the NCAA. She played college basketball also for Western Illinois Leathernecks, as well as Kansas State Wildcats.
Jada Thorpe was born on July 27, 2000. She began her basketball journey in childhood and demonstrated her talent during her high school years. Initially, she played two seasons at North Lawndale High School in Chicago, where the team achieved an overall record of 43-11 and secured a state runner-up position in the 2015/2016 season. Her performance earned her the IBCA Class 3A/4A Special Mention All-State recognition. In her sophomore year, she contributed to the program’s city runner-up finish, averaging 15.3 ppg, 4.6 apg, and 3.4 rpg. During the 2017/2018 season, she transferred to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, where she played a pivotal role in leading the team to an 18-3 record and a state tournament championship. For the Eagles, Jada averaged 16.6 ppg, 5 apg, and 2 rpg.
Jada Thorpe became a member of the Kansas State Wildcats in 2019; however, she was unable to participate in her freshman season due to an injury. During her second season, 2020/2021, she played in five games, contributing a total of four minutes on the court. Her first appearance came against Southern, where she attempted her only field goal against Kansas City.
In 2021, Jada Thorpe transferred to the Western Illinois Leathernecks basketball team. Throughout her sophomore year, she made 29 appearances, starting in all of them, and averaged 29.4 minutes of play per game. She recorded an average of 11.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, and 2.2 apg, ranking second in the Summit League for steals with an average of 2.0 per game. Additionally, she achieved the milestone of scoring over 20 points in five separate games.
During her junior season of 2022/2023, Jada Thorpe participated in 29 games, starting in 13 of them and averaging 21.5 minutes of play per game. She recorded an average of 10.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg, and 1.5 apg. Thorpe ranked second on her team with 41 successful three-point shots and placed sixth in the Summit League with a total of 110 free throws made. Notably, she achieved a personal best by making 14 free throws in a single game against Southern Indiana, where she also scored 19 points and recorded four steals. On January 12, she reached a season-high of 28 points in a game against Oral Roberts, successfully making four three-pointers and converting 10 free throws, in addition to contributing three rebounds, three assists, one block, and three steals. Throughout the season, Jada Thorpe recorded double-digit scoring in 14 games, including four instances of making at least 10 free throws and two games where she scored over 20 points.
In 2023, Jada Thorpe moved to Delaware Blue Hens, where had only one appearance.
